Can a non-MOSQ NCO block someone from a NG promotion opportunity?

So we have a National Guard unit with a non-mosq MSG in the only 92F50 slot in the state. The MSG has been non-mosq for 3 years. Now we have two E-7 fully promotable mosq Soldiers looking for an opportunity to advance. However the unit doesn't want to or cant find a new home for the MSG. Is there any regulation that doesn't allow this when mosq Soldiers are promotable into that slot?

And stuff like this is why I left the Guard. There are a lot of work arounds that the Guard does. Sometimes they will turn a blind eye to it. If that was an PFC that could get MOSQed they would be looking at getting separated most likely. Something like this is up at the state level I am sure. You are going to have to wait till that guy retires.

It is entirely a command/unit thing. If he has been doing the job for 3 yrs and they aren't complaining, them he is doing something right. About all you can do is approach the Senior NCO and or the Commander, it may not help much.

Well this was a good place for the MSG, because three years ago they needed to put him somewhere. He's also a Technician, so he isn't going anywhere soon and that just s@cks! Thank you for commenting and Happy Holidays!

In my state someone O5 or above would be answering questions to the G1 why a MSG has been NDMOSQ for three goddamn years.
Unfortunately, as the slot does not show as “vacant” it’s unlikely they could submit a request for fill.

Agreed and now unfortunately the promotable E-7 is planning to drop his retirement package all because of this situation.
