Can anyone help me find out the status of my ARNG CPT to MAJ unit vacancy promotion? I am told it is at NGB or Army level but I cannot find a status. The old ARNG G1 status site seems to be down.

Keep us posted. You'll be the first person I've ever heard of getting a UVP in 36 years. Usually they just stick you in the slot "one under" and don't even try to promote you early.

I got both O-3 and O-4 as UVP in 2009 and 2014, respectively. I think much of it depends on your state. Texas has no problem promoting people if they're qualified and in the slot. Other states (and some USAR commands) treat promotions as if it's a recommendation for the MOH and must be denied often to keep from "cheapening" it...

MAJ (Join to see) - that's been my experience. Also many supervisors are afraid you will "catch" them if you get promoted early. They thought they were doing you a favor by slotting you one under. the excuse was "since you're already in the slot it will increase your chances of getting selected for promotion."

You should be pounding on the S1's door. I use to give updates to the commanders weekly on the officers in their command and tracking was expected at all levels of the process. If it is at NGB, the S1 should be able to show you. If you don't like the answers from them after a week, talk to he BN XO or the Full time (AGR) officer in charge. Expect an answer within 48 hours or I would venture something is not correct. It's not hard to prove your packet is at NGB and when it arrived.
