I have submitted my DD FORM 368 and it is at my brigade. Any information on this process?

Correct me if I’m wrong SFC (Join to see) but a conditional release doesn’t grant a release from active duty. I believe you have to ETS and then begin the enlistment process to the Air Force.
Keep in mind, the Air Force has a prior service quota and you need to fit into that quota or no dice

SSG (Join to see) yes that's exactly correct. You can't leave AD with a Conditional Release unless it's for acceptance to a commissioning program

I was just informed by a career counseler that contacted division who contacted HRC and said a 368 can't be done unless I have 3 months left or less on my contract for active duty. Pretty big disappointment.

SSG (Join to see) pretty sure they just misunderstood the question by the time it reached them, or the counselor called the wrong section at HRC. The Division ops should be experienced enough to know the answer, every counselor gets this question a few times a year.
The Air Force Recruiters are notorious for giving Army AD (particularly Infantry) a DD368 and telling the Soldiers that if they get this signed the Recruiters can switch the branches. It's often enough that you can see the same question asked on here at least once a month.
The truth is that every single reason to separate and every separation authority is listed in AR 635-200. On top of that, the AF Recruiters are only able to get a handful of Prior Service candidates in a year, so you have these kids ETS and get stranded trying to join the AF.

SFC (Join to see) career counseler just told me that unless its for a reserve component going active in the army or officer from enlisted active that i can not do a 368. I've been in for 10yrs and I also still have more than a year on my most recent contract.
I'm not going to ETS just so I can go into the AF, even tho from what I understand I should be able to transition over quickly since I'm at 10yrs in service now. If me getting a 368 approved is not going to happen then I'll stop pushing for it and look at doing something else.

SFC (Join to see) Your responses are very appreciated. My knowledge doesn't go much farther than my retention nco classes.

SSG (Join to see) that's 100% correct right there.
What is it that you're looking at doing? Is it that you just don't want to stay infantry, is it too hard on your body, or is there something in particular the AF offered that you wanted to do?

You first must have a conditional release from the branch you are in to go hunt for a new branch of service. The recruiters need this to be able to work your accession packet into the USAF. Always good to make sure you have gathered together as much supporting documents you can for your accession packet on your own so very little is left but to sign and provide them the copy of the conditional release. Talk to the recruiter on the checklist for your packet and find out what else you need to gather while the conditional release is going thru the system.
