Are there good civilian jobs for an aircrew member of a fixed wing AR platform?

Sadly, those types of jobs are in short supply. When I retired from Air Defense, the only related jobs I could find would take me away from my family for years at a time. I got myself some training in Information Technology and found a job right away. You may want to consider a career change as a civilian.

That s a tough one considering you are not considered part of the flight deck crew (despite how critical your job is).
I would assume that many fire attack crews would probably pick you up in a heart beat, but look into it.
Border Patrol has a wide and varied fixed wing fleet, and I am almost positive that besides border surveillance they have some sort of ELINT aircraft operating. Beyond that there is very few, unless it involves law enforcement as an aerial observer. Many of those positions require a 2 year time in service as a beat cop before being considered for a speciality detail, but your mileage may vary.
If you are considering a career in flying, pick the brains of the pilots because they will for sure give you the know how and can teach a lot of stuff in the air. A lot of people get intimidated by the ground school considering that its easier to visual when its happening then when it is not, for example, flying a VOR radial is easier to explain in the air than looking at it on the ground.
What s your background besides being an AR guy? What did you before the Army?

I'd wager there are more than you'll find as a busted up ex Infantry mall cop...
