I’m on my first deployment and coming up on my 3 year anniversary with the wife. Looking for ideas to surprise her. Preferably realistic or from personal experience. Let me know what y’all did in this situation.

These days with online shopping, etc., it's still the same. Skype is just, well Skype. Get out some paper and write a real letter. She's the ground commander back home, so honor that. That's all I could do back in the day the first 3 anniversaries we had. Missed Thanksgiving and Christmas days as well. Thought we got over most of that but no, it kept happening.

SrA (Join to see) First, congrats on your 3-year anniversary.

I recently had my 15-year anniversary in your same circumstances. These are what I surprised my wife with. She loved them, and even my kids expressed surprise at how nice they looked. They aren't in stock at the moment, and the portrait gift is fairly expensive, but there are other in-stock alternatives. Apparently, the in-person quality is significantly higher than a video or image can do it justice.

I've always had a tendency to forget my anniversary (not uncommon for us guys), so I intentionally scheduled for the deliveries to occur one day after the actual anniversary day. The idea being that she would think I forgot again, and then BAM, she gets surprised with an awesome gift. The problem was, Amazon delivered them earlier than I wanted, but right on time for the anniversary. So it still worked out.
