"Guardsman fired from job after using forklift to retrieve candy"

MILFORD, Iowa — An Iowa man has been fired from his job after using a forklift to free a Twix bar stuck in a vending machine.

According to the Des Moines Register, 27-year-old Robert McKevitt was working a shift at a Polaris Industries warehouse when the incident happened.

After depositing his money into the vending machine, the Twix bar got caught on a spiral hook. It was then that McKevitt commandeered the 8,000 pound forklift.

McKevitt then lifted and dropped the machine six times, freeing the candy. He was later fired, according to the report.

McKevitt served in Afghanistan in 2011 with the Iowa National Guard.

He was denied an employment benefits claim as a result of the incident.
