More than anything, I want to feel welcome. To me, that usually means going to a smaller church (i.e., one with a smaller congregation). Big churches/congregations tend, in my experience, to be less welcoming.

GySgt Wayne A. Ekblad I've heard your argument for years, "Big churches/congregations tend to be less welcoming." The funny thing is, if you really think about it, if a church is not welcoming, they are not likely to ever get big in the first place. Small churches that are friendly and welcoming have the potential to turn into large churches. Small churches that are not friendly and welcoming are not likely to grow at all.

Notice, if you will LCDR (Join to see), that I said "that usually means going to a smaller church ..." Please also notice that I qualified my statement by saying "in my experience ..." Perhaps you've just had a different experience ... or is that not possible?

GySgt Wayne A. Ekblad I'm not discounting your experience at all. I just find it interesting that I hear that same argument so often when research shows just the opposite is true, that large churches get that way by being friendly and welcoming.

If they have the type of church service that I like to attend but chances are they don't so I seek churches outside of post.
