I've heard that there are colleges/universities out there that cater specifically to military personnel. Just wondering which one is the best to go through to get the most out of my JST...

You have to be careful that they are not a degree Mill. They notoriously recruited on the tag line of direct credit awarded for MOS and military training.
Manage your expectations. High water mark for transfer credit: I got one logistics undergrad requirement waived for my MBA as my advanced course had been evaluated by a regional accrediting body (Army Logistics Univesity was conferring degrees for select programs through FIT at the time).
I know time and money are a concern here but your GPA will take the hit here. What ever credit you do receive will likely be pre-reps and electives which help pad your GPA for the core upper levels classes that are far more difficult.

Beware of colleges that offer a lot of credits for service and over accelerated classes. As an example I foolishly attended a university for an accelerated AAS. I was given credit for military schools that i had attended more than a decade before. When it came time to take the more advanced courses I was having to relearn basics myself in order to understand and perform assignments. The classes were accelerated to the point that I passed the final exams and went right into 2 more classes and in a couple classes skipped the final and accepted a passing grade just to take a 1 week break. Depending on your major, look to see if the program is accredited as well as the School; for instance engineering degrees should have the program ABET accreditation.
Go to School to Focus on the education not to get promoted, that is just a perk.

Most colleges will give you some elective credit, but it’s not going to count for much in the long run. It’s more important to select a college with high brand recognition. Many major state universities are offering full programs online, with the same degree awarded as in the flagship campus.
Stay away from any for-profit college; their transcripts aren’t worth the paper they’re written on...
