How would you approach a situation where one of your soldiers owes another soldier some money?

I have a soldier who owes another soldier money. The other soldier is in a different section of the same unit and he contacted me and showed me proof. There are multiple texts from my soldier to him asking for a loan and further proof that my soldier is avoiding him.

Article 121 for Larceny and Wrongful Appropriation. This is what I would inform this Soldier of. And if they do not pay back what was owed/promised...then you will recommend to the Commander UCMJ actions.

You may want to have that soldier go talk to JAG...they would be able to give him real legal advice on his options on how to handle it.

I mean - I have no clue what their options could be or what actual UCMJ article it could fall under. People are trained in things like this - why not let them handle it? Instead of leading a soldier in the wrong direction.

You need to speak to JAG for some quick advice first; are these texts enough proof to put charges in this individual should the command choose to do so. With this information in mind you speak to your Soldier, with a prepared counseling statement telling him of his personal responsibilities, and any charges he could face should the other Soldier press forward. The rest you know.
