Should the US Army bring back the "Over 40 Club?" The Over 40 Club was an un-official policy that allowed Soldiers over 40 years of age to run at their own pace and distance , as long as they could pass the APFT in order to cut down the number of fatal heart attacks that occurred during the morning PT run.

I turn 40 tomorrow, on Friday.
I say, sure, bring it on back. At 40, and at 17 years in, I am not really trying to impress anyone with my PT score.
Also, at 40, I have more important numbers such at Blood Pressure, cholesterol, weight and and a slowing metabolism...oh, and my Roth IRA....its becoming important as well!!

I would be ok with it as long as the Soldier could "choose" to participate with the organizational PT if he/she were interested and capable.

I'm almost 44, been out of the Army for 8 years, am out of shape and STILL can run 2 miles to standard.

Perhaps there should instead be an increase in preventative health measures rather than allowing old farts like me to slack on morning PT?
