I am currently stationed in Ansbach, Germany but might be moved to Baumholder soon. If my husband has orders to join me but his orders are to Ansbach, will we need to file for joint domicile? Or will he just automatically be diverted to baumholder as well?

Soldiers may request permissive assignments to another area in the United States, it's territories or within the same overseas command, "without" cost to the Government to establish joint domicile.

Well he has orders to germany which pays for all of his belongings and everything to get here already so it would just be paying to drive to baumholder basically which is three hours away

SGT (Join to see) I was just reading from a friends regs book...it makes sense that he would have no expeses (other than travel) which he may be able to put in a vocher for that as well.

First, the answer to the last question. No. Nothing happens automatically. Somebody needs to amend his orders (or cancel your pending reassignment).
Are you both enrolled in the Married Army Couples Program (MACP)? That should have happened soon after your marriage. That's not automatic, either. You both have to apply. If you are, the Army is supposed to try to assign you both near enough that you can establish joint domicile. Note that "needs of the Army" take precedence.

Yes we are enrolled in MACP and that was how he got orders to Ansbach, but I am getting moved to Baumholder so we would just need to amend his orders?

Okay, first steps seem to be in order. Ensure your chain of command (and your husband's) are aware of your situation and let them do their jobs. Assignment to nearby military communities may allow you to establish joint domicile, even if in different commands.
