My window just opened up and it's time to pick where I want to go again, currently FT Carson not a big fan of the state nor the post. I did have the idea to submit an SFAB packet and go back to JBLM but would like to be a squad leader a little longer before I jump ship. Where do you think an 11B married with four kids should go? There's Campbell, Riley, Hood, and Bliss any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Three out of four represent small town living. Fort bliss is a very large city with a small town feel, but far removed from other cities. Each has its own positives and negatives. In either one you will train and deploy. I would look for a culture that your wife and children might enjoy. Look at schools, activities they enjoy and the proximity of travel. If you have a choice let your wife make it.

I recommend you and your spouse sit down and write out the things that you like to do as a family. Write down what you want from the school system and take into consideration that your spouse may want to work. Research each area to include the surrounding areas and see which checks the most boxes. The optempo at each base will go up and down because that is life in the military. Goodluck.

I’m at hood, and I’ll tell you right now if you want family time stay away from here. As an 11B our optempo has been stupid high.
