I am guilty of "Benevolent Sexism" (BS) and I apologize to all of you ladies. Oh crap, I think that qualifies BS!

I think this is one of the most absurd articles I've ever read, I hope this "study" was not funded by the government. I think this could be classified as a disease, I wonder if I could get assistance from the VA for my BS problem and help me to become more of an A-Hole?

Disclaimer: Potentially scandalous comment ahead

Real ladies will recognize true chivalry and never see it as anything other than good manners.

I recall plenty of times IN UNIFORM, I had doors held for me and chairs pulled out. I wasn't beating my chest or dragging my knuckles to ensure that I am "strong woman, hear me roar". I took it as simple acts of courtesy.

When I was in the Army, I remember my battle buddies literally extending their hands to help short little me in full battle rattle out of the back of a 5-ton. I also recall a comical curtsy afterwards. I will always laugh a little at the contrast of worlds and thinking, "Gentlemen rock!". :)

That is not true for all. I will hold a door for anybody. I haveheld it for men too as I figure, I already have the door and it is easier for all others to pass through than constantly switch from one person to the next and as always, somewhere along that chain, somebody will break it.

First, as you are commenting on my comment, I will assume that you meant that I was "good looking" and say thank you! (If you didn't mean me, than thank you anyway. Lol)

Second, I do believe that you and I have very different definitions of "lady". While I emphatically agree that someone that spits, I assume that you mean in public, is not my definition of a lady, I can assure you that I curse my a$$ off but still maintain decorum. Yes, I always try to be polite and considerate but will ALWAYS speak my mind and will never get steamrollered. Of that, I assure you. :)

Third, I believe that the air that one puts off is returned. If you act un-ladylike, then of course, men will reciprocate and not be gentlemen. I have had plenty of doors closed on me and shit like that, but I will hem them up and press on elegantly in my heels. :)

Also, I do not want to google or youtube it. I fail to see how convincing me that chivalry is dead will make be feel better about humanity.

SGT, Would you consider a woman who is about 5'3", and over 300# "aesthetically pleasing"? Or a "model"? Yet I held the door for her yesterday. And no, I didn't find her attractive.

SPC Travis Grizzard - My idea of good looking and yours is different, obviously short and heavy is not your thing. My point was missed in all the people taking what I've said personally. The fact of the matter is there is always at least one female in the company that has it easy no matter what her job is because most males find her attractive and are rushing around to gain her favour by doing her work for her and that is not chivalry but it seems to be what a lot of men consider chivalry. Chivalry historically is a code for combat and didn't actually have anything to do with holding doors for women and doing their work for them.

Here is a humble suggestion of a blessed father of a daughter. If we treat every women with whom we come into contact with in the same manner that we hope that our daughter will be interacted with then the world will be a more helpful, supportive place.

Never whistle, never gawk, never disrespect.

Agreed. In a game you can't win you might as well play the way you want.
