So i dont have issued gear such as the basic training boots they issue, body armor and camel back. Like most fresh privates i got rid of all that crap when i graduated BCT 4 years ago. Question is since im making the switch to full time and reclassing, would it be ok to bring my own ocp plate carrier, my own boots, a different camel back and sewn on uniforms ? I dont want to seem like an individual when i get to Benning.

Going to OSUT I would absolutely not bring any other than issued gear. As for your plate carrier, even after school most units/commands will not authorize non-issue protective gear for use while training. It simply isn't guaranteed to meet minimum standards, meaning it's unsafe.

SGT (Join to see) I don't think boots are an issue as long as they are on the approved list.

SGT (Join to see) - Even when you get to your unit, you might have trouble with your own plate carrier. AD units are always getting the next generation of RFI, including body armor, and I can almost guarantee that your First Sergeant is going to want everyone's body armor to be dress-right.

I recommend you download 670-1 and understand both the pamphlet and reg. Whether it is your first day back on active duty or your last, people cannot bust your balls if you understand policy.
