If you've since launched your post-military career, what didn't you know about landing a job that you wished you'd have known when you transitioned?

I think without a doubt, SPC John Reynolds, the key to finding a good civilian job is a network. Not just casual acquaintances, but people who actually know you and can vouch for you. People who would recommend you for a job - with enthusiasm and with knowledge of your skills and abilities.
I think I had an easy transition because when I started my civilian (DA civilian) job, the folks who were doing the hiring and the screening knew me and my reputation in the field. That's why I'm such a fan of civil service positions in the field you served as a service member. The network is naturally there, and there are likely plenty of people to vouch for you.
For me, lack of a good network is the biggest challenge in finding a good civilian job.
