Since March is women's history month, I figured I would throw out some interesting facts about women in the military.

Prior to the world wars, several women disguised themselves as men, enlisted, and fought in the revolutionary, civil and the Mexican wars. If their gender was discovered, they were discharged, some were still given pensions.

During the world wars women were allied to enlist. They were kept far from combat, however, in 1942 in the Philippines 67 were captured by the Japanese and held as POWs for almost 3 years.

So what other fun facts are out there, since there is always plenty of facts out there.

Thank you, Chief. It's so important to have the support of the men around us. It's much appreciated.

Great post! Enjoy your month and educate yourselves on all the outstanding accomplishments and the obstacles that females have had to overcome in and out of the military! There is still work to be done!
