Thought I responded yesterday but did not. 50 years ago I was on the USS America (CVA-66) as part of the Commissioning Crew, probably somewhere in the Mediterranean Sea. I left her in 1966 and went back to the states to attend Radioman "B" School in Bainbridge Maryland and from there (after completing SERE Training in California and Whidbey Island Washington) arrived in Danang/Dong Ha in March of 1967.

I was still a few short years shy of "making my grand entrance" there in 1971. It was an honor to serve my country, whether we won or walked away from that one. As many of us Nam Vets are prone to say, "We were winning when I left!!!"
