If this is your initial time on the weight program, you will have 6 months to meet weight standards. As long as you make progress during that period and make weight by the end, nothing happens. If you have meet the weight goal, but backslide to over the weight limit with the first 12 months, they are required by regulation for start processing you for discharge. It you make weight before your discharge and want to stay in the service, it doesn't hurt to hit your Command up for an exception to policy. Commanders are given a lot of leeway and if you are a good troop and they think you are worth the effort, it can happen. NO promises, but the worst that can happen is that you are told no. If you made the 6 month weight and held it over 12 months, you only get 90 days to make weight again. That resets after 36 months of you meeting the Standard.
Is there a specific question you have about it?

SPC (Join to see) - If you are at that stage, I am making the assumption that you either didn't make weight during the 6 months, or gained it back after making weight and failed again in the first year. If that's the case, you need to have a face for face with your chain of command and ask for an exception to policy. When I was commander, your overall performance and the recommendations of your first line supervisors would have went a long way to making me consider an exception. However, you won't really know what your chances are until you are face to face with the decision maker. My advice is still talk to your chain of command and the CO and they should be able to get you a straight answer. The worst that can happen is they tell you no, and then you are still just back where you are today.

SPC (Join to see) - OK, can you make weight now? Do you have any other adverse actions on your record? If you can make the weight requirements, talk to the chain of command. I would start with my section/squad leader and go up the chain from there. Again, the worst that can happen is you get told no.

I don’t have any other adverse adverse action and I’m still trying my best to make the weight because I really wanted to stay in.

SPC (Join to see) That will depend on your command. If your command has already chosen to separate you, they will more than likely continue to do so. You can request an Open Door Policy meeting with your Commander and see if you can persuade them to not discharge you. This should not prevent you from enlistment in the Reserves or National Guard. Is this your first failure?

SPC (Join to see) - Is this the first time that HT/WT was failed? Normally a person doesn't go through the process of a Chapter 18 without multiple failures. But I've never seen someone get discharged just for HT/WT, but that doesn't that no one ever has.

SPC (Join to see) - Okay. Look at CPT Lawrence Cable's response. Your question makes it sound like it was multiple failures, I just wanted to make sure.
