I just got an email from SORB "special operations career opportunity" in the title and I'm curious if this is just a generated email?
I do meet the criteria for SFAS.

Congratulations PFC SCHWENDENMANN,

You belong to a select group of professionals meeting the qualifications for a career in Special Operations.
is how the email starts.
Any info would be huge, thanks!

SGT (Join to see) I'll let the cat out of the bag. There are 2 ways of conducting email prospecting by the SORB.
#1 a Team of civilians at USAREC send out normal mass blasts to anyone within pay grade standards. Pretty standard, that's what the one you received looks like.
#2 The recruiters ourselves sort through the system to find fully qualified personnel including Rank, Time in Service/Grade, GT Score, location, ETC... many different qualities that help us filter down to the exact person within our market.
I cover 7 states, the guys at USAREC cover the entire world. So I don't want to email those outside my area so I tailor down the mass email, as well as make it more personable and actually explain some of the job, rather than just "contact your local SORB"

So yes, we do use mass emails to assist in ARSOF Recruiting. But just because it is a mass email does not mean it doesn't mean anything, it simply alerts Soldiers that there is an opportunity and that you don't have to be an 11B to try out.

As for your other posts. Just because SF is down on numbers doesn't mean the attrition rate is different. A standard is a standard.
My advice is to head over to the Office on Bragg (by Tucker Gym) and talk to the CA, PO, and SF recruiters to find out which SOF branch is best for you. As in which one you like the best based on how it relates to you and what you think you'd be best at. Many Soldiers aren't cut out for SF but are great for CA, and many are far from cut out for CA but should do well in SF. None are better than the other, they do different stuff, and you need all three working together to conduct an effective Unconventional Warfare operation.

I agree.. I did however hear quite a few times from some guys who just went through selection that SF is hurting for numbers now that conventional forces are at a "draw down" ish time. So maybe this is a good time to go for it being a "lower" attrition rate?

Don’t be fooled SGT (Join to see). All of the ARSOF mission won’t lower the standards!
