I just got told I'm being recommended for MEB... what happens now?

Good day, SPC Edwards. My name is Matt, US Army, 1SG (Ret). I've worked with many of these with the WTU and within the hospital in Germany. The old MEB system called Legacy is no more. The name has been changed to the Integrated Disability Evaluation System also called IDES. If you are being recommended for MEB you will have to prepare for numerous appointments. You must attend every appointment to prevent being perceived as "non-medically compliant". The process is supposed to take no more than 6 months but, it will be longer if the paperwork is lost or not in order. Make copies of every medical note you have as well as any papers received while in the process. These includes but is not limited to x-rays and MRIs. This act keeps the process moving in the event that paperwork is lost. You should have a P3 profile. Keep a hardcopy of this profile on you when in uniform. You should be assigned a Physical Evaluation Board Liaison Officer (PEBLO) who you must keep up with every week. They will have updates on your progress in the board You will also be assigned a Primary Care Manager (PCM) who will handle your notes Make sure they know everything about your condition. Be patient and don't let your frustrations show. You will become frustrated. Keep your COC and NCO Support channel in the loop. They will be instrumental from the military side when it comes to what you can do in the unit and your job performance. If you have additional questions you can reach out to current health provider and they should have the information to refer you to the right section/department. I retired a year ago and information may have changed. Do your homework and research. It will invaluable in the process. Hope this helps.

Depends on the needs of the Army...MEB is fitness to serve....PEB....is where you get the boot....now it depends on your goals....if you want to stay in.
..fight the MEB....if you want out....fight for the 30+ percentage....Army retirement. I would start...applying for Civilian work now....either back in the Army...Space x...NASA. ....Blue Origin...etc... Don't trust anyone ...especially PEBLOs....go online and read the Army Regs and US code... on MEB's....Save all docs...have legal representation...if you lose...Appeal to the very end....the prize is 30%.....
