I am currently transferring from the reserves to active duty and was wondering if the army will pay to have my personal belongings shipped to my new station. I'm taking mostly small stuff and a car with me.

Yes if it is a PCS move it is authorized. I'm currently just waiting on a MEPS date now to switch over it has been a long long long road.

SGT(P) Cody Rieker - If this is a PCS Move per your orders, then yes. I.E. are you going on a regular "Active Duty" and not an ADOS tour (usually 365 days or less)? You should receive orders if it's a PCS and on your orders it will tell you if you're authorized travel, moving expenses, POV transport, etc. It has to be on the order IOT receive the travel entitlement.

Usually ADOS tours are unaccompanied, and especially overseas you don't typically bring a family... unless it's a 3 year tour and I haven't seen one of those in a while. Now they just try to go with 180-365 days, so all they have to do is pay BAH.

If you have trouble understanding your orders (they can be full of legalese) asks someone experienced to look at them with you. Well, that's my .02 cents worth, good luck on active duty!

They will but you need to make sure that your move is in your orders. They should ask but do not always do so and it is pain to get orders amended but can be done.
