The good thing about Walter Reed is that the facility is right next to a Metro Stop. You can live practically anywhere in DC and get there quick. Bethesda is EXPENSIVE, as is Chevy Chase, Georgetown, etc. It really depends on what you are looking for. If you are single and want the city life I would suggest an apartment in the District, maybe Adams-Morgan. If you are more the suburban type then a good place to look is Rockville. There is a lot of new development in that area and it is very to get to Walter Reed from there. Welcome to the National Capital Region. I got assigned here in 2006 and never left!

My recommendation is to buy a bulletproof vest that is at least a level IV.

LTC (Join to see)
This is the new Walter Reed Hospital & is in Bethesda, MD and not the old one located in DC. It's not a really bad area and actually pretty pricey neighborhood. Didn't see any issues with vagrants or crime when I visited there about a year or two ago.
