Im a 14 year SSG and I am coming up on 2years TIG. Im trying to catch up to my former peers, so I called my branch schools manager to get a date. I got the date and class reservation email now, but some people I have talked to are saying I can only attend SLC if I am promotable. Is this true? Everything seemed right while talking to the schools manager.

Yes you, who attends SLC is up to your schools branch. Priority is everyone who is promotable first. Right now most lists have promotables sitting on a list up to 2 years waiting for a class seat, so those MOSs aren't slotting non promotables.
Use this experience as an example of why you always go to the source for the information as opposed to listening to your peers.

If the schools manager gave you a date already, I wouldn’t worry about what others have to say. Their experience is not your experience as you can see. You don’t have to be promotable to attend. It may be harder to get a date but you don’t have to be promotable. You can’t pin on E7 without SLC, so this will put you ahead of some of your peers upon your selection to SFC. Congratulations on getting your date and good luck to you....

You have a reservation. There is nothing to worry about.
If the reservation gets cancelled, you have something to worry about.
