I am in the last year or so of my military career. My family is thinking about retiring to the TN area....currently looking at Johnson City, Kingsport, Greeneville, Knoxville/Maryville areas. Is there anyone in from these areas? What kind of personal input can you provide? I have lots of info from the internet, but that is not the same as personal input... Thank you!

My wife and I have literally lived all over the world and I can honestly say that Knoxville Tennessee was one of our favorite places to live and is high on our list as our permanent retirement location.
We lived there for 10 years following my retirement from the Army and we loved every minute of it (with one exception .. I'm a University of Alabama graduate and Knoxville is the home of the University of Tennessee). Very reasonable cost of living, no state income tax, a lot to see and do in the area, etc., etc.
Loved it...
I'll be glad to tell you more and answer any questions you may have if you send me a message. We can exchange e-mail addresses to make it easier. I am traveling but can discuss it more next week.

Sir, have a visit.
I have been to the Knoxville area and it can be beautiful country with lots to see and do. It is also not far from the North Carolina mountains if you like to hike.

My wife and I are actually going to the area next week for a week as recon... Everything looks good on internet, hope the personal visit goes well also. Just wondering about any additional info that is "less then public posting!"
