This is not intended to be a commentary on POTUS's decision to move in a different direction. It is intended to consider the myriad of potential effects on our military and diplomatic posture.

How does this change how we are viewed in the region? Does it impact our ability to forward project American power? Does it offer those who would do us harm an enhanced opportunity to perpetrate some event detrimental to our national interest?

CMC Robert,
Personally I think it is about time that both countries could become friendly to one another. It is unfortunate that their Pres Castro had to pass on for the changes that appear to be coming out of Cuba. It also may just be a coincidence with his passing, but whatever. They need to open their borders so the relatives of their citizens can visit without reprisal. I do not believe that it did either countries any good for all the bad blood spilt. I am sure their ecomemy needs a lot of assistance much like the Germans did when they reunited. Their isolation had to be rough on their ecomemy.
