We all have Soldiers that we know are not going to make the cut. Are you talking to them and guiding them to the proper resources to ensure they are prepared to transition out of the Military?
I inform them that I am not even safe from the draw down although I do not think that they believe me. I have been to a multitude of briefings while I worked in TRADOC and am trying to enlighten those around me with what I have learned through these meetings.
I know it is a hard subject but it is a reality which must be discussed. Actually, we are way behind as Leaders if it has not already been done since reception into the Unit. That is the best time. The Military has a ton of resources in place these days which must be utilized to the fullest extent to ensure Soldiers leave with the best possibility of becoming a productive element within society. This is also important to self esteem and hopefully assist with the alarming suicide rate among Veterans.
I always try and mentor my Soldiers to make the ARMY an option not mandatory and the same for leaving the Military. Having choices makes life much less stressful.

Indeed it is SPC Shane Farlin, that is why I am hoping Leaders are ensuring that their Soldiers are going through the processes in place. That is what they are there for.
Thank you for being honest on the clarification on the picture but now it is blank.

Always! Get as much education as you can, get your certifications, and try your best to outperform your peers. Our last go around had us ranking individuals 1-whatever for retention in over manned AFSCs. If you have even a small bump in your record, that could be what stops you from being retained.

That is correct TSgt Joshua Copeland, the ARMY has decided to go for the throat and go over records with great scrutiny. At least that is the threat.
If it comes down to it then those who do not even have blemishes might not make the cut.
I am prepared either way but I would like to retire when I decide not when the ARMY does. Of course I jump out of planes and that could also be a factor in leaving sooner due to injury.
