Evening everyone.

I'm a prior service Marine, Sergeant (E-5). I'll be attending BCT at Ft. Jackson, and then on to OCS at Ft. Benning. Since I doubt there is going to be any downtime between BCT and OCS, am I suppose to bring everything I'll need (everything on OCS packing list) for OCS with me to BCT?

Thanks.

Poser, as in recruit. How long can you pose as a cherry before the Drills catch on?

Bring what you think you need for OCS in a personal bag and it will get locked up while your in BCT. There are a lot of smaller items you can get now that are required. You might leave out the sewing kit... they will give you crap for bringing small sharp objects to basic. You will draw gear in OCS and have the opportunity to purchase what you need before training, but good to come prepared . Your in for a journey, good luck!!

You will be traveling from Jackson to OCS as an individual, so if you need to stop off at clothing sales and buy a sewing kit, 4 more pairs of socks and a t shirt, thats all doable.
Reference excess items at BCT, try and keep it to a medium sized duffel bag bring those extras that will be difficult to pick up on the way or at OCS.. a pair of boots, your preferred brand and fit of socks, ect.. DO NOT bring "extras " like a GPS watch, a $500 pair of binos, or any other high value items...Pack them in a USPS box before you leave and have a friend or family member send them to you once you get to OCS.
Do not even bother tying to explain why you have all of it, it wont matter at the time. You will get some grief for bringing too much, say yes sergeant and be secure on the inside knowing why you did and it was the better choice.

My IRR has been longer than 3 years. They also stopped the Prior Service BCT.
