So I’m going to be signing my contract soon and I want to try to get the most out of it as I can, my main incentives for the army are education and experience, with pay/bonuses as a third. I’ve narrowed down everything I want, so what is possible to get?
CLRP
College fund
Enlistment bonus
Guaranteed first duty assignment
Quick ship bonus
Airborne school

Austyn.....it truly depends on what you want out of life in general. I chose the Marines out of high school because I wanted to be apart of the best (my opinion). I had no idea where it would lead but here I am 25 years later. Most people that join the military say they'll do 20 years and then retire not knowing the intricacies of the military and everything that goes with it. My advice to you is think about what you want down the road (long term plan) and use the military as a vehicle to get you there. Everything I have today is because of the military and I owe it a lot.

Would you still join the Army if all you got was the the education? I joined the Marines to be a Marine. I looked at everything else as a bonus. Remember, there is a lot to offer a person going in, but what are you going to offer to the Army?

Yes, I’ll be joining the army if I got nothing on this list here. What I offer the Army is nothing but myself; I believe that can I be an exceptional soldier and I always put my best forward. I have high expectations for myself and never settle for anything than the top standards and i believe my superiors will appreciate my drive and I will do my best to instill that in others.

I like how you ended your comment.....what are you going to offer the Army. I truly believe and paying it back and forward! You certainly get out of it what you put into it.

What are you offering the Army? A high School Education and trainability? You may be getting a little ahead of yourself, I’d suggest seeing what your plan is after the Army. Do you intend on going to college? Do you want to learn a trade? Or do you simply want experience working in a team and gain some leadership skills. This isn’t a Christmas list, you shouldn’t be asking for the whole kit and caboodle! Remember, when the Army gives a lot it will expect a lot. Can you deliver?

I’m 3 years into two 4 year degrees but can’t complete because I’ve run out of money, but yes I’m extremely trainable and quick learning. I do plan to finish school either during or shortly after my time with the army. Gaining or building leadership skills I do believe will be a strong positive outcome. I do not want nor expect anything free, I plan to do more than deliver, I wish to excel. Thank you for your comment.

Then you will need to decide on loan repayment while leveraging Tuition Assitance so you can complete one of you two Bachelors degrees. Again, the only only offers “incentives” for difficult jobs or jobs that are hard to fill. Which do you want? A job you’ll enjoy or a job that comes with incentives? It will be difficult to have both. Good luck.
