where were you when the world stopped turning?
I was in Concord NC at school working on my Associate's Degree. someone said something about an aircraft crash, so I went to my truck and listened to the radio. classes were, of course, cancelled. so I went home and tried to find out if my employer (Federal Reserve Bank Security in Charlotte NC). could not get through to them, so I went in anyhow. our head of security, even with a threat against our branch, was not recalling anyone. but we had the sheriff's department posted at our entrances.

I remember hearing how quiet, eerily so, it was.

SFC Stephen King I had just gotten out of the Air Force the year before. I was sitting in my Illustration class in college (yes, I was an Art Major). I was the only one listening to the radio. When it was first reported I exclaimed, "Oh my God! Something bad is going on in NYC." By the time everyone had stopped, the second plane had hit. That's when I let them know this wasn't an accident. We pulled a TV into the room and just watched.

I was delivering dinner trays to my patients on the Med/Surg Ward at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center.
