So I just got out of active duty and enlisted into the reserves and got an EAB with it for 15k in a lump sum. My recruiter who did my contract said I needed to take my contract after my last day of active duty which was July 13th and give my new unit the control number so it would be processed and I would get in in 30-45 days or less. Well I took it to my retention at my new unit and they told me it was already in processing so I was confused. They sent me to my S1 and the lady who is a civilian worker told me to make a copy of my co tract and that once she puts the paperwork in and it’s processing that I would see the money in 10-15 business days. I’m wondering who I should listen to due to the fact I’ve been told several different things and if any of this is true. My buddy got out in May and went to reserves in California but he still hasn’t seen his

Well I cannot say what part the retention person has but I was a unit administrator and we processed the paper work and sent it up for bonus's, payment was dependent on the pay cycle at DFAS and McCoy who actually process the paper work so DFAS can pay it, but I would say if all the paper work is there and nobody drops the ball less than a month.

So would you recommend just staying on top of it then? Or just let it run its course?

I would ask the UA of its status, I would assume your UA handles the paper work, they should be able to track it. I know I had a log number for each and every item I scanned up for processing.

I would add if you have not received the bonus in 4 weeks I would definitely be asking, usually something is wrong with the paper work or misfiled.

So WHO the Hell are you going to believe- your CA buddy, or the S1 who is processing the paperwork and also has all your records?

I’m a MilTech and mostly deal with Financial Readiness for an RPAC. Have you contacted your RPAC to find out if they submitted your EAB packet to the Bonus Team?

Negative, the lady in S1 says she will have to send in the paperwork next week because she is in some sort of training this week so it hasn’t even been sent in yet apparently and all last week she told me she was going to submit it the next day and never did
