I am a newly commissioned 2LT. I am married to another SM, who is enlisted. I am currently TDY at Fort Knox and my spouse is stationed in San Antonio. I am trying to understand BAH and TDY. I have been told I will not get it because I am TDY. However, my spouse and I have an apartment together so it doesn't make sense to me that I would not get BAH while TDY. Any help on the matter would be great.

You will still receive your BAH, it is not tied to your current location but your base of assignment. Going TDY does not stop standard pay such as BAH/BAS.

I was in the same situation and my BAH stopped while attending BOLC since quarters were provided.
(Also dual military, spouse enlisted. Spouse already got orders to new duty station while my gear and goods were still at Bragg, paying rent at two places and no BAH caused quite the strain.)

David, do you have a regulation where it specifically says SM is entitled to BAH while TDY with provided quarters?

My local finance office and DFAS are unable to help or know and stopped then started then stopped my BAH three times because no one seems to know here.

Ahh yes but what about tdy en route to BOLC? They cut my wife’s BAH at BOLC in 2018. Now I am about to go to BOLC and they are about to do the same thing to me. I know this is wrong, I just can’t find anything in specific regarding dual mil BAH while at BOLC. Thanks.

I would go talk to finance. They should be the experts on it.
