I was in the Marine Corps and got out almost 10 years ago. I've been thinking of coming back in for the past few years. Due to my career path and educational goals, I feel like the Army would be the best fit. I'd rather come back into the Marine Corps but the recruiter I've spoken with has been in very little contact and didn't seem very hopeful about me being able to rejoin but the Army was completely opposite. How was the transition, not just to a different branch but also coming back in with such a huge break in service? If you got out as an NCO, and switched your MOS was it difficult being in a leader position learning a new job? Any information would be appreciated.

When I came back in 2009, there were several former Marines, Navy and AF who came back in (recession put a lot out of work). We had one guy who had been out over 20 years, but several who were anywhere from 5-12. Most people seemed to get into the groove fairly well.
