When the Marines refer to "the institution" in the Corps, what do they mean?

The institution is the Corps itself. Nobody is bigger than the Corps and the Corps always comes first. The organization as a whole.

Inflated ego! Lol.... just kidding! I could be wrong because I’m just ARMY, but I think it’s kind of the same as saying once a marine always a marine. That’s how I always understood it.
