When will I be able to see my wife again after I leave for BCT? Is there anything that can help my family that I must know?

Just signed my contract waiting for BCT. Married and expecting a baby. Wife wants to know when I’d be able to see her again after I leave. Any one know?
Also as a new member in the Army is there anything that can help my family that I must know ?

What is your MOS (military occupation specialty)?
The reason I ask is because this will determine how long you will be gone, and it may also determine where you will have BCT.
For example, if your MOS is 11bravo (infantry), you will attend BCT and OSUT in Ft. Benning, GA, for a combination of 14 weeks. You will get only one weekend for family to visit you after BCT is complete (after 10 weeks). Then, you will return to complete OSUT for the remaining 4 weeks.

Let’s say your MOS is 92Foxtrot (petroleum specialist), you will not attend OSUT after BCT, you will attend something called AIT (Advanced Individual Training) in a different base.
AIT is usually longer than OSUT and the visitation rules differs by MOS. The length and location of AIT will differ by MOS also.
This can range from a couple weeks to a whole year, depending on your MOS. Those who attend longer AIT typically have more lenient rules regarding visitation.

I cannot give you accurate information about your BCT, because I don’t know your intended MOS. My best advice would be for you to consult with your recruiter. They will have all the information you need. Best of luck!

Ask your recruiter. He should tell you how long your AIT is. If you have a non OSUT she will be able to see you for BCT graduation. During in processing you will go to DEERS and put her and your dependents into the system so you will receive BAH. And they will also be tracking that you will need military housing at your first duty station.
