Ask, but check and verify.
Available room, current Travel and housing business rules, School rules, rank, kids ages, all have a play in it.

You will need to put some trust in the folks creating your orders, the local travel section processing you. And a check on things on the DLI end to confirm.

Dont forget to ask about travel costs, are they covered for your family?., if so how much will it cover it?
If your going to have to live off the DLI campus, what is the current rate and look at what kind of a place that gets you.

Monterey California is not a cheap location to live in. Job opportunities and day care is also not the best.. So consider ALL of the things that go in to bringing your family.
How much will BAS be for you while there, consider local food prices.
Gas prices, all other prices for what it costs to buy, live, enjoy the area.

I grew up in the area, and was stationed there for most of 7 years...It was a treasure spot of the Army for a long time... Im glade I was there when I was a bit better off as a dual military couple of NCO's, and awesome new housing on post. Some languages/courses are much longer. All that to say I is certainly worth checking out LTC Jeff Shearer Wed, 28 Nov 2018 11:56:58 -0500 2018-11-28T11:56:58-05:00 Response by SPC Private RallyPoint Member made Nov 28 at 2018 7:59 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/35m-will-i-be-able-to-bring-my-family-to-dli?n=4166949&urlhash=4166949

As of yesterday, you can bring your family to DLI, it is a PCS. Here is the webpage to housing services for specific questions.http://www.monterey.army.mil/Housing/housing_main.html
There are dozens of married SM’s in my company alone. Off post military housing takes all of your BAH, which runs around $1700/month for E1-E4, but you can find other places if you prefer. Always check your orders first of course.

You will not be given BAH during your time at AIT, as it is not long enough for a PCS. 19 weeks to be specific. There were people who’s spouses moved out to Sierra vista for the duration of the school, however it was not on the army’s dime.

Presidio of Monterey

The United States Army Garrison located in Monterey is home to the Defense Language Institute.

SPC Private RallyPoint Member Wed, 28 Nov 2018 19:59:56 -0500 2018-11-28T19:59:56-05:00 Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Nov 28 at 2018 9:40 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/35m-will-i-be-able-to-bring-my-family-to-dli?n=4167185&urlhash=4167185

It is a PCS length school.
