I was demoted (SPC to PFC) due to a Company Grade Article 15 during AIT. Can I receive a waiver to get promoted again after TIS 18 months?

according to AR 600–8–19 •
Section II
Processing Enlisted Promotions to Private E–2, Private First Class, and Specialist
2–3. Rules
(5) Any Soldier previously reduced (for misconduct, inefficiency, or cause) must be fully qualified (without a waiver) for promotion to the next higher rank.
Does this include article 15 or no ?

Private First Class I am a retired Specialist Four. I never got demoted; and, as such, I don't have an answer for you. I AM praying for your success.

Tricky- under rules now- UCMJ does not follow you outside of OSUT- or so I have been told. Therefore under that idea- you have not been demoted- so could get a waiver. Tho the bottom line is does the CO want to give you 1 or not?

If you have the min TIG (6mths) then sure. The question is, is you CoC going to want to give a waiver to someone who has a history of messing up?

I actually was demoted to from SGT to SPC then from SPC to PFC a month later. I was promoted two or three months later back to SPC and a couple months after that was asked to go back to the E5 board. It was an interesting time in my career.

SGT Joseph Gunderson - Sounds like it was when I was an E-4 and below. Ranks went up and down back then.

SFC Jeffrey Port - Sometimes it happens. The key is to not let it keep you down. I remember when I was a young private, my NCOs always used to tell me that the good NCOs were the ones that had messed up at some point (there wasn't a SGM around that didn't have at least a company grade Art 15).
