Every Era of Vets has had this happen, but when is enough, enough?  We ask for volunteers and promise them the moon then when they really need it, its not there or its only half the moon.

I do not think it is vague. My father, a Vietnam veteran, was promised free healthcare as a result of Agent Orange poisoning. He served four tours, and only recently has he started sharing his war stories with me. Anyhow, in one, he told me that there had been so much Agent Orange sprayed from the aircraft that it was dripping off the trees and he could taste it (along the Laos-Vietnam border somewhere). He now has co-pays because he "fits in the higher income bracket."

I have issues relating to my military service during the Persian Gulf War, and now, too pay copays. After 9-11, Gulf War veterans seemed to take a back seat in the VA for the new round of veterans and a renewed interest in Vietnam veterans. The VA needs a lot of work.

To you the comment may be vauge but when the time comes and you need the VA you will look back and understand the ones of us that feel like we received nothing but broken promises for the sacrifices we made and yes we volunteered. but we were told the military takes care of it's own. We I. served 9+ years and I suffer from osteoporsis, fibromyalgia, PTSD, and few other major issues and it takes an act of congress practically to get the medical care necessary to just treat some of my conditions because the VA does not have those speciality doctors on staff and local speciality doctors won't take VAvouchers stating VA does not pay or pays to slow. So yes my comment was a little vauge but maybe now the light has shined enough for you to see that what we were promised is not what we are getting and. each generations promises were larger but their return is less. I love this country and that is why I volunteered but now when I need help why do they turn a deaf ear to our vets plite.

And another thing about the VA (I formerly served as an American Legion Service Officer), the VA has a bunch of "below eye-level" programs and benefits. These are NOT advertised by the VA and are normally discovered by "accident" by veterans. Some of these benefits include education, clothing allowances (for certain disabilities), transportation assistance, etc.; and the VA counts on low participation in them so that they can reallocate funding to other programs and administrative costs.

It is a shame that the VA will not simply publish information on EVERY veteran's assistance program that is available instead of leaving the veteran to beg for assistance or unaware of programs that were designed to help them.
