I was discharged out the Army during Basic Training with a RE3 (JFW). Can I re-enlist?

Its a medical, so to get an RE Code waiver you first have to clear the medical process at MEPS and get a medical waiver approved, then the RE code waiver can be processed. Basically you have to prove that whatever the disqualifying condition was for your discharge no longer exists. You will need to provide all medical treatment records on the condition, to include a current status from your own doctor. If it was OW, then you have to pass ht, wt, and BF. If you are still OW, then lose it before you talk to a recruiter. Walking into a recruiting office fat trying to get back after getting kicked out for being fat is not going to get you anywhere.

(Join to see) - It depends on what the medical condition was, and the current status of it. If you have completely recovered and have the medical records to back it up, then it works about the same as any other medical waiver. If the medical waiver gets cleared, then the RE code waiver is pretty simple. So, you will require 2 waivers-medical and RE code. Of course, it is a moot point until you can pass height and weight. No medical processing can take place until you are otherwise qualified.

(Join to see) -I will just be completely honest with you Ryan, as a former recruiter I had dozens of overweight prospects that would say they "planned" on dropping weight. I would ask them, “What have you done today to start your plan?” I only ever had a handful make any meaningful progress. As for your waiver process, work on the disqualification that you have control over first, that being your weight. Then heed the advice you were previously given and review your situation with a current recruiter. Keep in mind, the likelihood of them starting a waiver review with you before meeting body fat is low.

As I said before I plan on dropping weight before ever stepping foot in a recruiters office. I'm not going to show up and promise them I'll lose the weight and to look into getting me a waiver I'm going to make sure I'm on weight before I go in there. Though I don't know why weight keeps getting brought up ha I was not discharged for being overweight, I just let myself go after I was discharged and know that I currently don't make the height weight requirements. I'm not too far off but I still plan on making sure I am on weight before bothering a recruiter with messing with attempting getting me a waiver, I just don't hear much success of people getting waivers after receiving a RE code 3 and separation code JFW so my quiestion was basically looking at how likely with my discharge codes is it that I actually get a waiver, thank you all for your comments thought

Sure you can! Go to a recruiter, if you can get back in they'll make it happen.

@SGT Eric Davis is there a way I could talk to you privately and see if your RE code 3 was similar to mine and see how your experience went? I am definitely going to talk to a recruiter and give it a try, I just have little hope and wanted to see what others opinions we're on it in here, thank you all for even taking the time to acknowledge my quiestion

Can I ask what exactly caused y'all to get a re code 3? Just seeing if y'all got a waiver and we're allowed back for the same as me or not

My Sep code was JKA and I required a waiver. And my circumstances were a bit different.

You can always talk to a recruiter, and waivers are possible (JFW?)- doesn't mean they will take you
