Have I been incorrectly awarded the Army Overseas Service Ribbon (within 24 month period, 2 mo 3 day & 8 mo 8 day deployments)?

There are several ways to earn the OSR without completing a 12 month tour. Only the personalist can check the records to see if you qualified. At one time I had 3 OSR last week it dropped to 1 when I had to validate my ORB. I has 3 for the last 12 years. It’s all a mystery.

Check the regs. When I was in, you could receive the bib on for accumulated time from short deployments, with a day in the first and last month covering the full month, e.g. depending upon the start day 60 days could equal 3 months

Sir,
That is exactly the case. The first deployment started in January, ended in March. Second started in April, ended in December. Depending on whether you calculate it like that or by individual days, its the difference between 10 months 11 days and 12 months. Can anyone confirm the correct means of calculating for the OSR? Thank you.
