What do you guys think of civilians not stopping for colors? Would you call them out or let them go?

A civilian didn't stop for morning colors that happens at 08 every day. Even though two vehicles were stopped on the same road. One of the vehicles pulled into his lane and called him out on it and he just called the guy an idiot for stopping him.

I wouldn't concern myself with it. The only person's behavior I can change is my own. If I worked on a base, I would get out and stand with my hand over my heart if it was time for colors. I wouldn't concern myself with what others didn't do, assuming of course they don't run me over or hit my vehicle. Frankly, I have better things to do with my time than deal with the stupidity of others.

I personally don't get out of my car. If I'm walking to my vehicle and retreat sounds off, I stop and salute but once I'm in my vehicle and driving I do not stop and get out to salute.

MSG Dan Castaneda - When I was at Fort Lee, management told us we had to. My guess is because of the high number of AIT students that were around. We all know TRADOC tends to be more rigid about things. When I moved here and worked on Redstone Arsenal, I never knew when the flag went up or down. I never heard music or a cannon so I never stopped. Now I work off post and don't have to worry about any of it lol

SGT David T. - I was at Fort Carson not to long ago and they all did there too. All traffic stopped and it took a car full of SF guys by surprised. We did the right thing and exited our vehicle, but most of us had our head gear jammed inside back packs in the back of the SUV. So we were still wrong saluting without head gear. Fort Bragg however, doesn't enforce it. When I first got here 20 years ago, everyone stopped. Now no one does. Maybe some high speed CSM can start enforcing the standards once again and get this base back to showing proper respect to Ol Glory. I however, am not the best role model.

Pet peeve of mine....
I Stand CDO duty about twice a Month here, and one of my details is observing Morning Colors. I wont lie I want to throw out a Spike strip for traffic, the amount of people that drive by is ludicrous. I have brought it up with the chain of command so many times I sound like a broken record. There really isn't much you can do to this these walking cluster F*%ks. Especially since I can't move till Colors is done and by then they are long gone.
I have had 2 opportunities to rip someone apart however and I took both with great gusto. Both times the offenders made excuses that they didn't hear colors playing, which is understandable as I could clearly hear their music (if you can call it that) from a fair distance away as I approached their cars. They also both stated they didn't relies what was going on and that's why they backed up and tried to detour around traffic. Yes others had stopped and these two geniuses decided they were going to find an alternate path. Both ended up in a dead end and that's how I got my knife hand into them.
There are only two things in my day I actually look forward to and that's Coffee and Colors!!!!

If it is on base I believe they are required to. Get the plate and turn an in.

I wouldn’t necessarily turn someone in for violating forced patriotism, but this is a traffic safety issue if people are pulled over and getting out of their cars.
