My unit doesn't get slots for these schools and I'd really like to go to airborne. Is there anyway to go about getting that school or others on your own?

Call your branch assignment manager and tell them you would like to volunteer for Airborne school with a follow on assignment to an Airborne unit! Keep in mind other factors will play apart in your ability to get the school thru HRC enroute, like your ability to PCS and your specific MOS and it's strengths as well as Airborne Assignment availability! Have you had an Airborne physical, no use chasing it down if you can't pass an Airborne physical.

Question: I'm completeing my airborne physical this week, and finishing putting together my packet. My gaining unit is Airborne and at Bragg. I'm currently reclassing but want to complete Airborne enroute to my new unit. Should I call branch to volunteer for a slot before submitting the packet, or should I submit the volunteer packet and wait?

PFC Folsom you should contact your branch ASAP. Looking at the unit your being assigned to I do not believe there is a requirement to be Airborne anymore. Not every unit on Fort Bragg is Airborne these days.

Its pretty easy to get here at Benning, just be a walk on but its harder when you have to go TDY for it. Talk to your chain of command and see what they can work out for you. If you really want it there should be a way to get it. I have seen Soldiers from a lot of different MOSs going through airborne school

I'm at Gordon and will pcs in August to Bliss. I have a abn physical ready, there is a class within my pcs date. Is it really as simple as showing up and walking on?

Maybe you can get on no pay orders and get a walk on slot during the winter months.
