Before college or pro athletes are allowed to flex & roar like warriors - shouldn't it be mandatory first that they prove their machismo/worth first in a mandatory two years of military combat? Especially if they're going to be given the obscene money for providing services much less valuable than Serving their country.

Well, Sgt S.P. Woodke, I don't think will ever happen! However, I am really weary of sportscasters, commentators and writers referring to athletes (especially football players) as warriors! Granted, football is a violent and sometimes dangerous sport that may well cause injury and in very rare instances, even death. However, the participants in these events are athletes, not warriors.

Well, I understand the premise of your idea, but 2 years of COMBAT may be a bit much to expect, maybe just 2 years of regular service would suffice. I agree that they make obscene amounts of money, and provide not much beyond entertainment to society, but that is what society expects from them. So, unless mandatory service is required by all (which would be another discussion altogether), it probably shouldn't only be levied on athletes.

While we may not like it, the salaries of athletes are somewhat proportional to the revenue their services generate for their respective organizations. That's the nature of capitalism, which I value highly, and I see no value in forcing mandatory service on them. I also take pride in the fact that our superb military forces are all-volunteer.
