I've only been on RP for about 3 weeks, but I find myself checking in several times a day to make sure I'm up to speed on the conversations that are posted. I really have enjoyed my new found association with everyone here, and I wonder if anyone else has had this same thought...
We can tag each other in a post to ensure that they are made aware that they have been mentioned in a post. This is immensely helpful when, for instance, we are seeking their specific feedback to something. I wonder if it wouldn't also be nice to be able to make reference, and LINK to, a specific thread we are mentioning.
Perhaps this is a minor consideration, but I think it might go a long way towards tying some loose ends together in the stream of consciousness postings that tend to happen here. Let me offer just two recent examples where I could see this being a benefit:
1. There was a post recently, where CPT Gregory Rouson (notice I can tag him individually) started a thread titled: Is it just me...(etc). (notice I cannot link directly to that discussion.)
2. A few days ago, I mentioned: "My buddy CW5 (Join to see) started a discussion about North Korea, (Go check out that thread, there's some good stuff there to contemplate) and it really got me to thinking about other isolated countries that exist today; and the reasons for their isolation."
I would really have liked to have been able to link directly to that thread; or CPT Rouson's thread, for that matter, within my new thread.
Would this functionality be useful to anyone else? Have you ever found yourself wishing you could do this, instead of referring in general terms to another posting? I think this would tie multiple threads / points of view into a single conversation quite nicely.
It damn sure would save me the time it takes to individually track down past statements that have been referenced into current threads. I assume that we all would like to be able to (quickly) read for ourselves those post that are being referenced, as source material, before we make a reply of our own. I believe this quick link ability would be a positive for the RP community, as we would all be able to be up to speed, and have the proper context of any quotes that might be being referenced from earlier postings.
What say you?

SPC (Join to see),
To link to a thread, you may copy and paste the thread's URL (address). To get the thread's URL, open the discussion and copy the address that appears in the address box near the top of the screen. It should start with "https:///'.
Here, I've copied and pasted this thread's URL below.

I agree with you. Especially when something is referenced from another thread as part of the debate.
