I was told buy a chief that they had to be leather and fire resistant. I been wearing the same black leather gloves my whole career, now I'm being told they're not authorized while fueling.

FM 10-67-1 holds ALL of your information needed as a 92F. HOWEVER, there are various different situations in that FM that are covered and if you read through it (you should be very proficient in this FM as a 92) you will see that different operations require different types of gloves. The issue is WHAT TASK ARE YOU DOING?? Sampling fuel requires certain gloves, refuel requires certain gloves, fire watch (static point) requires certain gloves. Are you in an aviation unit? Is it a hot refuel? In FM 10-67-1 (18-4) it says LEATHER GLOVES
SEE THE IMAGE BELOW. But if you are on the static point, wear rubber gloves (for static, unless you have electrical gloves)
We had several officers, warrants, who felt that they know my job better than me, because they are OFFICERS. It wasn't until a CW3 decided to scream and yell, and create a scene on a FARP that my commander got involved and ultimately proved to him that I was right, and he was wrong. Long story short, NEVER LOSE YOUR MILITARY BEARING, even if you know you are right. You as a 92 are in charge of your point, and you can refuse to work should someone ask you to something unsafe (like not wear the right PPE). If you know the regs, and the FMs, and keep your cool, you will come out on top. When I refused to do what the CW3 said, he tried to come after my rank through the Battalion Commander, who got my CO involved, and then I was able to Prove that I was right.. KNOW THE REGS, KNOW THE FMS.
