I have recently enlisted into the USAR as a 91B (Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic) and will be attending BCT at Ft. Jackson, SC and then Ft. Lee, VA. While becoming Airborne qualified will not help me in my MOS, I plan on attending college and enrolling into the ROTC program. By becoming Airborne qualified now, I will allow myself to attend more schools during the summer increasing my OML ranking

You don't. If you get airborne school in your contract or you somehow get it then you would go after AIT. There are a few exceptions to that but not many.

Thank you Sergeant, that's what I was afraid of, but it's not the end of the world.

Reserve and National Guard slots for Airborne are rare enough to be almost non-existent.
If PV2 Aquilera is in ROTC program, there are competitive slots for Airborne, Air Assault and some other schools that one can attend on an unpaid basis. They used to allow Ranger School. Why anyone would attend one of these schools unpaid and uninsured is beyond me, but you can do it.

You will not be attending Airborne during Basic Training. Unless it was an enlistment option, you will not go unless you submit a request to go (and fingers crossed that it gets approved)

Did you get it in your contract? If not, you may need to put in a request with you command. They will recommend you, and they should have the necessary paperwork for any school you want. They need wheeled mechanics in airborne units, too.

It's not in my contract unfortunately. And because I'm in the Reserves, I'm not assigned to an Airborne unit. Thank you for your help Sergeant!

Your command, even if in Reserves, can still get you a slot. Don't give up.
