What advice do you have for someone seeking an online graduate degree pathway to become an Army Chaplain?

I took attended two colleges my advice would be not to rush your journey. I took extra counseling classes in understanding ptsd and trauma, the impact of suicidal thoughts. I took classes on ethics and also 4 units of Clinical Pastoral Education. I took classes in understanding taboos in cultures and crisis management.

Having been a Lay Minister many years ago, I always thought the seminary environment was very positive for those in the ministry. I'm certain there are some theology classes that can be taken online, but some just simply have to be enjoyed in a classroom environment.

Hey sir, during my travels to different countries such as Thailand and China, I also got to see the organic side to seminary work for different cultures.
I'm stationed at Ft. Hood (Texas) and I've recently begun my research. I would rather impose my academic trajectory towards the classroom environment, but I'm not sure what Texas has to offer yet. Having said that, I'm dubious whether a simple masters degree in divinity versus a specific one in Buddhist studies would be more appropriate.

Personally, my thoughts would be towards training/education that is more generalized than specific. May prove to be not as limiting in scope.

Very true. Thanks for your advice, just found this app and wasn't sure what help I'd find.

In order to become a Chaplain or Chaplain Candidate you will need an Endorsing Agent. I am not familiar with Buddhist teaching so I can not tell you the quality of this organization http://buddhistchurchesofamerica.org/ however five minutes of googling has told me that they were an Endorsing Agent for Army Chaplains at one time. Contact them to find out more information about what they would require to endorse you. The Army is not currently allowing online only Masters degrees for Chaplains, but that policy changes with the needs of the Army.
Whether you are a visitor looking to learn about Jodo Shinshu Buddhism or a long-time member at one of our 60 temples across the country, we invite you to explore the online home of our BCA community.

Many of our chaplains had already been through seminary and were either rabbis/pastors/priests in their own religion. Depending on your faith, you have to have something from that diocese/convention/beis din in order to be released to serve in the military. It's not like a typical recruit/ MOS situation.
