25 June is a few days away. Are there any Korean War Veterans wanting to share their experiences in a war that started on 06/25/1950??

All the US Army had in Korea were 500 military advisors to President Syngman Rhee 25 June was a Sunday so the next day as we woke and drove to work the radio was blaring about the Korean Peninsula being in a state of war and the US had promised to help. Many WWII Veterans and Reservists immediately volunteered to fight in Korea. But the Army Troops in Japan were the first to land in Korea.

Hard to believe it has been 66 years since Korea exploded and Gen Mac Arthur was faced with a disaster like Dunkirk in WWII when the US was forced to the Pusan Peninsula..

On Sunday 25 June 1950, eight North Korean divisions led by Russian T-34 tanks crossed the 38th Parallel and invaded South Korea. The UN convened on Sunday afternoon in NYC & Truman decided to react & appointed Gen MacArthur to use his forces in Korea.

My father was one of the troops in Japan that got sent to Korea. One of the units that he was a member of was the 27th Infantry Regiment a part of the 25th Infantry Division at the time. This was one of the units that followed immediately after Task Force Smith. I also had an uncle that was serving in the Marine Corps at the time as an aircraft mechanic, I am not sure when he got sent to Korea.
