We've all had something that motivated us to seek-out a recruiter or officer selection officer... what was it for you? What motivated you to reenlist, stay in, or to sign-up? Perhaps it was a respected family member, coach, or community leader that you looked up to; for some of us it was adventure, travel, training, discipline, or physical fitness, and others it was simply to get out of the hometown for awhile and see something new. Whatever the reason, I thoroughly respect your decision to serve, and have always been interested in what drives each of you to selflessly serve your nation. Many citizens 'think about' military service, everyone in this group signed-on-the-dotted-line to actually 'perform' military service... so,what was it that motivated you most to make (or continue) that commitment? Please feel free to share any photos, web links, sound files or anything needed to tell your story. Thank you for all that you do each-and-every-day, and... see you all in the discussion threads!

I was given my American Citizenship once i had been active a year. I was able to give myself and my daughter a better life because of the Army. I am English and growing up in the midlands was rough at times and England is hard place to get by. My daughter because of the Army will never know the hardships i once had. She has never been cold, hungry or without. That's a far cry from my childhood. I thank the US Army for that. Joining the Army was a fair trade for staying in America<br>

SGT Walker you are the "poster child" on why citizenship is so important to keep for legal Immigration. Thank you for your service.

I'm in because I always wanted to join the military. &nbsp;I'm staying in because there's a lot that upsets me about how the military works and my complaints are more often than not felt by the people around and below me. &nbsp; So, rather than complain, do nothing, and get out, I'm hoping to stick around long enough to make a difference and provide a common sense check in the Army. &nbsp; That's the goal, we'll see if it comes to fruition.

That's reassuring sir.  I die a little every time a good NCO, warrant, or officer leaves the service because they can't handle the politics anymore.  Good luck to you; I hope you can make a difference.
