He also acknowledged that America’s Vietnam veterans often did not receive the recognition they deserved.
“Our Vietnam veterans were patriots and are patriots,” he said. “You served with valor, you made us proud, and your service is with us through eternity. So, no matter how long it takes, we’ll continue to express our gratitude for your extraordinary service.”

It's no secret, the Veterans that served during the 1960s and 1970s were treated beyond poorly. In fact, I don't think there is a word in any language that can correctly classify the way those that served during that time were treated.
What do I feel about Obama's comments? He is right. Those that served during the time frame served with valor; they did what was asked in the face of very little support from the citizens they were defending. The service will continue on forever. And yes, now the Americans need to continue showing their gratitude for the service given.

If you think the '60s and '70s mistreated veterans go talk to a Korean vet.

I always felt proud of my service in Vietnam regardless of what anyone else said until I heard this President mention it. Now, I'm not so sure. Given his treatment of the military under his command, I have to wonder...

Of course my personal opinion but coming from Obama it means nothing to me no matter how true the statement is.

Perhaps my question wasn't clear. I apologize. I was asking for thoughts strictly on his comments that happened to come as he presented the two MoH's.
