Due to changing nature of warfare and with the recent activation of an Army Cyber Brigade; do you think the Army budget should be gear more DIGITS or BULLETS if you had to choose between a 75/25 percent split?
1. Choice [Digits]
Attack and defend through the use of cyber warfare and invested technologies such as AI (Artificial Intelligence).
2. Choice [Bullets]
Even though technology based; focus the budget on enhanced-futurastic weapon systems and challenge the adversary through brute force.
-------------------------------------------------
Some negative aspect in regards to both:
[Digits]
* difficulty in training personnel to match the skills of seasoned hackers
* excessive over-run cost due to the reliance on civilian personnel for training
* difficulty in maintaining skilled personnel due to job offers
[Bullets]
* excessive over-run cost in building the wrong weapon systems due to political reasons
* establishing large training centers that require excessive resources
* adversary has the ability to copy the weapon systems at our expense

I might go for a 50/50 split on digits/bullets. There's no doubt that cyber is the wave of the future, but that won't eliminate the need for "boots on the ground" in some cases.

CW5 (Join to see), that is always important to consider. I just know that there will probably be a large budget battle in the future because everyone has a different aspect on how to defeat the enemy. Some I know hate technology so much, they would go all out weapons and vise versa.

CPT Eric Dunn, agreed. We face a significant cyber threat. From my perspective, the problem we have in countering that threat is that our policies and laws are so far behind the times that our enemies come and go before we can get our response through the first of many legal reviews. Until we change those sorts of restrictions, I think we are potentially in trouble on the cyber front.

I think we need to have an all inclusive strategy, that includes all threats from all venues. Even ISIS is using Social Media, and the Internet as a recruiting tool, we should be aware and combat all threats from all vectors

difficult choice especially because of the extreme split. But having no other choice, i'd invest the larger portion in bullets for now.
